We are delighted to announce that Cedar Practice have been awarded a bronze Green Impact for Health Award by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK).
Green Impact for Health is part of the United Nations award-winning Green Impact programme designed to support environmentally and socially sustainable practice within organisations. We have been undertaking actions to improve the environmental sustainability and quality of general practice, and contribute towards the NHS Greener Plan.
The NHS is responsible for 4-5% of the UK’s carbon footprint. To have a 50% chance of avoiding the consequences of >1.5°C of warming, our global carbon emissions will have to reach net-zero by 2050. By taking part in this programme, Cedar Practice has joined the journey towards a low carbon, sustainable way of living.
Further information about the steps the NHS is taking to reduce its carbon footprint can be found here. We encourage all of our patients to join us in taking steps towards a low-carbon lifestyle to address the current climate emergency.
